Chapter 674:

The Divine Scholar lost his words as he watched the scene unfold.

His mind felt completely empty.

Even his sharp intellect couldn’t accurately interpret what was happening before his eyes.

It was natural, if you thought about it.

Interpretation meant grasping phenomena through one’s own knowledge. But the scene unfolding before his eyes couldn’t be grasped by any knowledge the Divine Scholar possessed.

That wasn’t martial arts.

At least, it wasn’t the martial arts the Divine Scholar knew and understood. He had never seen or heard of such a spectacle even once.

He was simply overwhelmed by a phenomenon that transcended common sense and understanding.

Black demonic energy.

But it wasn’t a scene that could simply be called black demonic energy.

Think about it.

The forces filling Mount Hua easily numbered over ten thousand. Even just one-tenth of that would be over a thousand. Yet black demonic energy was being extracted from the bodies of a thousand or more martial artists and shooting up into the sky.

It looked like Mount Hua was spewing black flames.

The black demonic energy darkened Mount Hua’s sky, then was sucked into one human body.

Gooooooooo.

Demonic energy swirled around the Heavenly Demon’s body.

Heavenly Demon.

A demon sent from heaven.

It was a scene where that name fit too perfectly. In this Mount Hua where countless people had gathered, only the Heavenly Demon seemed to be a different kind of existence.

The Heavenly Demon’s long hair soared toward the sky.

Every time he breathed, the black demonic energy that hadn’t been fully absorbed was sucked into his mouth and then exhaled repeatedly.

Finally…

The black demonic energy that had darkened Mount Hua was completely sucked into the Heavenly Demon’s body.

“Huuuuu.“

The Heavenly Demon’s low deep breath reached everyone’s ears clearly.

Thought stopped.

They couldn’t even think to help their fallen comrades.

Nor could they think to fight against the Heavenly Demon right now.

Run away?

They couldn’t even think of that.

Everyone gathered at Mount Hua was simply existing, completely captivated by the Heavenly Demon’s every movement.

The Heavenly Demon looked at his own hands.

The sight of his fingers twitching entered everyone’s eyes clearly.

“It’s insufficient.”

“This foolish one has failed to fulfill the Heavenly Demon’s command.”

“It’s fine.”

The Heavenly Demon smiled broadly.

“What’s lacking can simply be replenished.”

That was the moment.

Uuuuuuuwing!

A sound like something resonating came from the Heavenly Demon’s body.

“What else now…”

What else could there be here?

That was the moment.

“Keueueueueuuk!“

The Divine Scholar flinched.

But it wasn’t this side that showed a reaction.

Cracks appeared on the Demon Sect side that was kneeling in worship of the Heavenly Demon.

“H-Heavenly Demon!”

“Why!”

The Demon Sect members’ bodies contorted.

Starting from those in front, they began trembling violently, then collapsed to the ground having seizures as if struck by epilepsy.

‘That…’

It was similar.

But there was one thing that was different.

“Keueueuuk!“

Those who had collapsed to the ground spurted blood from their seven orifices. At the same time, black demonic energy was extracted from their entire bodies and sucked into the Heavenly Demon.

“Keaaaaaaak!“

“Keuk, keueuuk! Keuuk!“

Demonic energy and life force were being extracted from the Demon Sect members’ bodies. It was a scene that made even the observers horrified.

Wrinkles began forming from the fingertips of the collapsed Demon Sect member.

Black hair turned white instantly, and the muscular body dried up to nothing but bone and skin in an instant.

“H-Heavenly Demon…”

Those left with only bone and skin couldn’t possibly survive. Having their life force instantly sucked out, they became miserable corpses scattered on the ground.

At first, one.

Then dozens.

Eventually hundreds!

Black demonic energy was extracted from more and more bodies.

It was a scene too horrible to watch with open eyes.

The Divine Scholar watched that scene with a face as if he had seen a ghost, trembling faintly.

‘What on earth…’

It was a hellish scene.

No, even if you called this place hell, no one could shake their head in denial. Life and death were touching each other right here.

The one creating this hell.

The Heavenly Demon.

The Divine Scholar held his breath as he looked at the Heavenly Demon.

He couldn’t understand.

He absolutely couldn’t understand the being called the Heavenly Demon.

He could somehow understand extracting the energy from the Central Plains people. From their perspective, it was an outrageous act deserving of heaven’s wrath, but from the Demon Sect’s perspective, it was a method to efficiently eliminate enemies while increasing one’s own power.

If you didn’t consider the abandonment of human morality, it was like achieving a great military feat in one stroke.

But…

Shouldn’t it have ended there?

Why was he extracting energy from his own followers in the same way?

Only then could everyone realize.

That person was not a demon.

Central Plains people thought the Heavenly Demon was just one of the demons at a high level and high position. But at this moment, it was being proven that this thought was wrong.

The Heavenly Demon was not a demon.

He was a being who couldn’t be grouped together with the demons they had thought of until now.

To him, the Central Plains, the Demon Sect… everyone was just prey.

“Keueuuk, keuuk…”

The Demon Sect members died spurting blood from their seven orifices. The Demon Sect members who had all their energy drained from their entire bodies dried up like mummies and collapsed to the ground with thuds.

Deaths that were utterly miserable.

What made it even more terrible was that they died not by anyone else, but by the Heavenly Demon they had worshipped so devoutly.

“R-run! We’ll die!”

“Flames of sacred fire!”

“Why! Why is this! Heavenly Demon!”

The reactions of those dying were also varied.

There were those who ran away to survive, those who knelt and accepted death. And there were those who glared at the Heavenly Demon with eyes of resentment and hatred.

Though their reactions were different, the results they met were all the same.

“Keueueueuuk!“

Black demonic energy extracted from their bodies was sucked toward the Heavenly Demon. It was as if pitch-black clouds had completely filled Mount Hua’s sky.

Gooooooooo.

Demonic energy swirled blackly and was sucked into the Heavenly Demon’s fingertips.

When the seemingly endless carnage finally revealed its end, less than half the original Demon Sect members were standing on Mount Hua.

The rest had all collapsed to the ground completely dried without a drop of moisture.

Crack, crack.

The Heavenly Demon lightly clenched and opened his fist.

“Hmm.“

The Heavenly Demon looked at his hands with a subtle expression.

Crack, crack.

Every time his hand moved, making strange sounds, Mount Hua’s air seemed to fluctuate.

Blood Demon’s body trembled as he watched.

“H-Heavenly Demon, any more than this…”

“I know.”

The Heavenly Demon cut off Blood Demon’s words.

“Though it’s not a satisfying degree, I should stop here. If there are no hands and feet to serve me, troublesome matters will increase.”

“The Heavenly Demon’s wisdom reaches the heavens…”

“Shh.”

The Heavenly Demon smiled broadly.

“That’s enough of the flattering words. If I feel even a little more disgusted, I might tear your mouth apart.”

Blood Demon didn’t dare open his mouth and prostrated himself, burying his head on the ground.

The Heavenly Demon didn’t even glance at Blood Demon and turned his head to look at Wei Yan-ho.

“I made you wait.”

Wei Yan-ho couldn’t open his mouth.

The sight of the Heavenly Demon looking at him with a smile made Wei Yan-ho recall memories from the past.

Wei San-ho always smiled like that whenever he looked at him.

Gentle.

And endlessly warm-looking.

Though Wei San-ho always tried to be strict with him, he couldn’t stop the smile that flowed out unconsciously.

Before meeting his master.

Wei San-ho was the only one who showed him such a smile.

Even his father scolded him, and his mother worried about him. Wei San-ho was the only one who believed that infinite possibilities were hidden within him.

Even though he was looking at his brother’s smile, Wei Yan-ho could no longer smile back.

Because he knew that it wasn’t his brother making that smile.

“…Come out of that body.”

The Heavenly Demon shook his head.

“You’re still saying such things.”

“You…”

“It’s a curious thing.”

The Heavenly Demon’s smile deepened.

“Child, I have never had such a long conversation. Conversation is only possible between those with equal qualifications. Unfortunately, nowhere in the world is there anyone with the same status as me. That includes you as well.”

“…”

The Heavenly Demon tilted his head.

“Yet having a conversation with you isn’t particularly bothersome. No, rather, I’m even feeling a bit of pleasure. As if… yes, as if I’m looking at a close relative.”

Wei Yan-ho bit his lower lip.

The word ‘close relative’ felt so unfamiliar.

The Heavenly Demon quietly grasped his chest near his heart.

“The emotion I’m feeling now must be because of the memories left in this body.”

“…You’d better shut that mouth of yours.”

Wei Yan-ho gripped his sword.

Then he gritted his teeth.

He was trembling.

His legs were trembling faintly.

Since leaving the cave, Wei Yan-ho had never once felt fear toward anyone.

There were times when he didn’t like fighting and was afraid of dying, but being afraid of someone other than his master was unimaginable.

But at this moment, undeniable fear was washing over Wei Yan-ho.

You see as much as you know.

They wouldn’t know.

No one here would dare guess. How strong the current Heavenly Demon was, and how… how terrifying an existence he had become.

Only Wei Yan-ho could know.

Like…

Like the despair of seeing his master Baek Mu-han.

The pale feeling of seeing a massive Mount Tai that couldn’t be handled by human strength.

His head felt like it was turning completely white.

“Isn’t it interesting?”

The Heavenly Demon chuckled.

“It’s interesting that a body with erased memories feels emotions toward someone. But what’s more interesting is that I can’t completely separate the emotions this body feels from myself. What do you think? This body is mine. If it’s an emotion felt by what’s mine, naturally it should be mine, shouldn’t it?”

“That’s not yours.”

Wei Yan-ho gritted his teeth.

“Brother’s body belongs to brother. It’s not something the likes of you can possess!”

Wei Yan-ho raised his sword and pointed it forward.

“I’ll take it back. By killing you.”

The Heavenly Demon smiled.

“Good posture.”

Then he slowly raised his hand.

“But…”

Black energy flowed faintly from his hand.

“Being young, being spirited, cannot serve as an excuse.”

The energy that had been flowing slowly began to cover his hand like fog.

The black energy grew darker and darker.

The pitch-black demonic energy swelled more and more.

Finally, the Heavenly Demon’s hand began flowing black demonic energy like water. Pitch-black turbid currents swirled around his body.

“If you can’t understand by seeing, I have no choice but to make you understand.”

The Heavenly Demon’s hand extended.

At the same time, Wei Yan-ho saw it.

The approaching black turbid current.

Darkness that seemed like it would suck you in just by looking at it, the scene of pitch-black demonic energy surging like the mouth of hell, rushing forward as if to swallow the world.
