Chapter 264

“Huh?”

Wei Yan-ho couldn’t help but tilt his head as he watched Peng Cho-yeon charging at him.

‘Why is this old man acting like this?’

He thought carefully about what he might have done wrong, but he simply couldn’t find any fault. No matter how much he thought about it, weren’t all the words he had spoken correct?

‘Ah, I get it.’

Just as Ho Cheol-san had said, aren’t there so many people in the world who hate hearing the truth? If any of the words he had spoken were particularly unpleasant to hear, it could make someone angry.

But…

“Drawing a sword and attacking seems a bit much, doesn’t it?”

Looking at how he was charging forward with his sword drawn, even though there didn’t seem to be anything among his words severe enough to warrant a life-and-death battle, veins bulged slightly on his forehead.

‘No, wait. This can be called a disease.’

Wei Yan-ho, who had been about to get angry, shook his head from side to side.

Come to think of it, charging forward ready to kill over something like this wasn’t a matter of personality. If he were in his right mind, he couldn’t act like this. Then this should be seen as having a personality disorder.

Once he thought of it that way, his mindset changed.

Being sick doesn’t only mean physical illness. Someone with a sick mind is also a patient all the same. How devotedly had Jin Ye-ran cared for patients? Having watched that, Wei Yan-ho couldn’t just leave a patient alone.

Patients need to be treated.

But how would Wei Yan-ho treat him?

‘Why can’t I?’

Wei Yan-ho was someone who respected old sayings. Aren’t there no wrong words among old sayings? There was one old saying that Wei Yan-ho particularly respected.

“Dogs and madmen need the medicine of a beating stick.”

Wei Yan-ho drew his beloved sword from his waist, scabbard and all.

“I won’t let you get away with this!”

Looking at Peng Cho-yeon charging at him with bloodshot eyes glaring, he seemed to have gone completely mad. Wei Yan-ho’s sword flew out to meet his incoming blade.

BANG!

Wei Yan-ho’s sword and Peng Cho-yeon’s blade clashed, creating a thunderous sound. At the same time, a tremendous shock erupted and the pavilion began to shake. Peng Cho-yeon leaped backward, then stared at Wei Yan-ho with a dazed expression.

Only the sound of falling roof tiles began to echo through the quiet living room.

‘What the hell?’

Peng Cho-yeon’s face began to turn bright red.

‘What have I just done?’

He had charged forward in the heat of the moment, but after exchanging one strike, his mind snapped back to clarity.

Hadn’t he come all the way here after hearing that this punk Wei Yan-ho had beaten the Dark King like a dog?

Even if rumors tend to be exaggerated, the fact that Wei Yan-ho had defeated the Dark King must certainly be true.

So what was he thinking, charging at Wei Yan-ho like that?

His martial skills weren’t that different from the Dark King’s. Though he couldn’t say this to others, if he were being honest, he was no match for the Dark King.

Of course, his martial arts weren’t significantly inferior.

It was just that his weapon was too honest for dealing with the Dark King, who would shamelessly throw hidden weapons and scatter poison. A blade isn’t suitable for blocking hidden weapons—it’s truly a man’s weapon.

They say that when you reach a certain level, you can handle a blade as lightly as a fallen leaf, but compatibility still exists.

‘But that doesn’t change anything.’

No matter how much he made excuses about being at a disadvantage due to compatibility, the fact remained that his martial skills weren’t that different from the Dark King’s. It hurt his pride, but he couldn’t say he was stronger even if his life depended on it.

And now he had made the first move against someone who had defeated that Dark King.

‘I’m screwed.’

Only then did Peng Cho-yeon begin to grasp the situation.

Glancing around, he saw people watching him with expectant eyes. And even more people were looking at him with pitying gazes.

Since he had picked a fight with Wei Yan-ho, whom even the Dark King couldn’t handle, their eyes clearly showed they could see how this would end.

‘D-don’t look at me like that.’

Of all places, why did he have to cause trouble in a place with so many people? Considering his position and social standing, trying to smooth things over now after throwing the first punch was nearly impossible.

Then that bastard should quietly back down first…

“Aren’t you going to attack?”

Wei Yan-ho began slowly approaching him, waving his sword back and forth.

‘I said I’m screwed!’

Peng Cho-yeon felt like crying.

When people of similar skill levels exchange just one strike, they can usually gauge each other’s abilities.

To block the strike he had delivered in complete fury by simply swinging his sword from where he stood?

If their skills were similar, that would be absolutely impossible.

‘Tomorrow Ju-ru will be quite noisy.’

If rumors spread that the martial world’s sacred figure Wei Yan-ho had beaten down the Dark King and then thrashed a passing Blade Master as well, the gossips would have their tongues wagging non-stop.

And he wouldn’t be able to show his face in public for at least several years, and the prestige of the Hebei Peng Family would fall to the ground.

‘Who knew that failing to control my temper once would lead to such results.’

He should have heeded his late father’s words that his explosive temperament might bring great disaster to the family, so he should be cautious and then cautious again.

“I said, aren’t you going to attack?”

Wei Yan-ho walked toward him with an extremely annoying expression.

There probably aren’t many people in the world with such a disgusting look. It’s not that his face is ugly—it’s his expression that’s disgusting. How can he convey such vivid irritation with just his expression?

“It seems you have some personality disorder.”

“…”

It was true, but still.

“Don’t worry. I’m experienced with this.”

“Huh?”

“My personality was really bad originally, but it got corrected a lot after meeting my master.”

Ho Cheol-san’s mouth dropped wide open.

That was considered corrected?!

Then what on earth was he like before?

How much of a complete bastard must he have been to spout such nonsense that his current personality was the corrected version?

“Do you know how it was corrected?”

“W-well?”

“You get beaten.”

“…What?”

Wei Yan-ho raised his sword as he spoke.

“After getting beaten to death for about five years, even my existing temper disappeared and I became really gentle. But you seem to have a worse temper than my old self and we don’t have much time, so you’ll probably need to get beaten more intensely. I’m not confident, but I’ll do my best, so don’t worry too much.”

“N-no…”

So it was a declaration that he would beat him intensely until his personality was fixed.

“Come here. Should I come to you?”

As Wei Yan-ho gradually approached, cold sweat began flowing down Peng Cho-yeon’s back.

Then, a sound he definitely didn’t want to hear reached Peng Cho-yeon’s ears.

“F-Father!”

“Hm?”

Turning his head, he saw Peng Do-hyeong running over with a pale face from the direction of the door.

“Do-hyeong?”

“Yes, Father. What is this about?”

Looking at Wei Yan-ho holding a sword, Peng Cho-yeon holding a blade, and Ho Cheol-san watching them both with a pale face, it wasn’t difficult to guess the situation.

‘This is a disaster!’

Peng Do-hyeong’s pupils began to shake.

Of course, his father was like heaven to him. But there are times in the world when an objective perspective is needed, and if Wei Yan-ho and Peng Cho-yeon were to clash like this, the outcome of the match was as clear as the sky being blue.

‘I have to stop this!’

But how?

Peng Do-hyeong swallowed his saliva and looked at Wei Yan-ho. The Wei Yan-ho he had experienced so far was a petty person among petty people who never forgot even the smallest grudge.

And he was strangely thorough about revenge, never leaving loose ends. So how could he talk Wei Yan-ho out of this?

“W-Wei Young Hero! Please calm down first…”

“Huh? I’m not angry though?”

“…Excuse me?”

“I’m not particularly angry or anything like that. I’m just trying to carry out the perfectly natural fact that if you get punched first, you have to pay it back.”

“…Punched first?”

When Peng Do-hyeong glanced over, Peng Cho-yeon nodded awkwardly.

‘Why did you do that!’

It would be better if you bit a sword and fell forward! No matter how I look at it, the only thing you’ll get is humiliation, so why did you swing a sword at Wei Yan-ho, Father?

“Haha, there seems to be some misunderstanding…”

“Besides, your father seems to have something wrong with his personality, so let’s fix that personality while we’re at it.”

There is something wrong.

Though he was his child, he had no choice but to acknowledge that. His father definitely had many serious problems with his personality. So much so that he was beginning to think it might actually be beneficial if his explosive temperament got corrected a little through this opportunity.

‘No.’

But this wasn’t just his father’s affair. It could become a disgrace to the entire Hebei Peng Family.

“Please calm down first.”

“Geez, I said I have nothing to calm down about. Don’t be annoying and get out of the way.”

“W-Wei Young Hero, if you cause another incident, Great Hero Wei Jeong-han won’t just let it slide either.”

For a moment, Wei Yan-ho’s body flinched.

Then serious conflict began to appear on his face.

“Even if I said I got hit first for no reason and was just retaliating, he’d still nag me.”

Wei Yan-ho shook his head vigorously as if he hated even imagining it.

“So please calm down first. Can’t we talk this through? Our father is also very sorry.”

“Him?”

“That expression is really his sorry expression. He’s someone whose facial expressions rarely change…”

“What a load of crap, seriously.”

Wei Yan-ho chuckled and said:

“But do you know something?”

“Yes?”

“Do you know why I keep getting nagged by my dad?”

“…What do you mean by that?”

Wei Yan-ho said while picking his ear:

“If I hadn’t done things that would make my dad angry, would I have anything to get nagged about? I get nagged because I do things even though I know they’ll make him angry.”

“…”

Peng Do-hyeong was momentarily at a loss for words.

“That’s how people are. You should only do things that are right, good, correct, and not bad, but if you live like that, are you human? You’d be Confucius. If everyone lived like that, who would say Confucius or Buddha were great? They’d just be some random passersby. They’re called great precisely because we can’t do that.”

Does that make sense?

“So what I’m saying is!”

Wei Yan-ho snatched up his sword and giggled:

“Originally, forgiveness is easier than permission. It’s easier to live by doing it first and thinking about the consequences later. Memorize this. It’s one of life’s truths.”

‘Who lives recklessly like that, you crazy bastard!’

But Peng Do-hyeong’s scream couldn’t extend beyond his mouth. Before he could even open his mouth, Wei Yan-ho began swinging his sword at Peng Cho-yeon without warning.

Flash!

A sword emitting dazzling light began striking toward Peng Cho-yeon.

Gasp!

Peng Cho-yeon cried out in shock and raised his blade to block Wei Yan-ho’s sword.

And at that moment, a booming voice exploded:

“Yan-ho! You bastard! What the hell are you doing?!”

Spotting Wei Jeong-han running over shouting from far away, Wei Yan-ho said urgently:

“Q-quickly, I have to beat you!”

Normally you’d stop fighting there. Not beat him quickly, you fool!
