CLS-Chapter 144
by SaberToothChapter 144
Seeing Wei Yan-ho approaching him, the Ghost Demon was incredulous.
‘What’s with this brat?’
Unless he was completely insane, he wouldn’t dare draw his sword and act so brazenly in front of him. But this bastard seemed to be genuinely crazy, doing such mad things with complete composure.
Moreover, the others weren’t even trying to stop him.
‘What kind of situation is this?’
He had been active in the martial world for about a hundred years, but this was the first time he’d seen such an absurd situation. Even if a mouse came with a toothpick to catch a tiger, it wouldn’t be this ridiculous.
“Young brother, it seems you need to learn what fear is.”
“Yes. I can clearly see that you’re quite fearful.”
“What did you say?”
Wei Yan-ho said with a calm expression.
“You were acting all high and mighty calling yourselves the Twin Demons, but when the Demon Cult rose to power, you quickly ran away. Now you’ve come back out into the martial world. You’d have to be quite cowardly to do something like that.”
“This bastard…”
Just as the Ghost Demon was about to speak, Wei Yan-ho raised his hand to stop him.
“There’s no need to wrestle with words when we have good blades. Let’s just fight. We’ve dragged this out too long already.”
The Ghost Demon let out a hollow laugh.
“You insolent brat, do you know who I am…”
At that moment, something strange caught the Ghost Demon’s eye.
Wei Yan-ho raised his sword and slowly drew it downward.
‘What is he doing?’
In some ways, it could just look like someone loosening up by themselves. But the Ghost Demon had to feel an ominous chill rising from his spine.
And that ominous feeling saved the Ghost Demon’s life.
Without realizing it, he felt burning pain in the hand he had stretched out in front of his face.
‘Pain?’
How long had it been since he’d felt pain?
Moreover, his hand was a part that shouldn’t be able to feel pain. Wasn’t his hand where all his demonic energy was concentrated? His hand that was harder than steel and could tear through iron like paper – to feel pain in that hand.
But it was still too early to be surprised.
Thud.
An awkward sound.
The Ghost Demon’s eyes turned downward.
Where the sound came from, there were familiar fingers lying on the ground. No, calling them “familiar fingers” might not be quite right. Their appearance was very familiar, but seeing fingers that had been attached to his hand his entire life lying on the ground was something even he was seeing for the first time.
“Uh, uh…”
The Ghost Demon, still unable to grasp the situation, let out a groan as he looked at his hand.
From his index finger to his pinky, all four fingers had been cut off.
“Wh-what is this?”
What in the world had happened?
How could his fingers, when he had mastered the Green Demon Hand to the extreme level, be cut off so easily?
“Tsk.”
Wei Yan-ho shook his head as if annoyed.
“Well, this works out. It wouldn’t be good if you died too easily either.”
“…”
The Ghost Demon looked at Wei Yan-ho as if seeing a monster. He couldn’t understand what had happened, but it was clear that this brat had cut off his fingers.
But how?
“Get it together! Ghost Demon!”
The heavily tensed voice of the Blade Demon awakened his mind.
“He’s a master of the supreme level. This place could become our grave.”
Hearing the Blade Demon’s words, the Ghost Demon gritted his teeth. The fact that this stupid-looking bastard in front of him was a master who could cut off his fingers in an instant was still hard to believe, but the martial world was a place where such things occasionally happened.
“You… what exactly are you?”
Wei Yan-ho sighed.
“What would change if you knew who I was?”
The Ghost Demon was at a loss for words.
That was right.
Wei Yan-ho had already cut off the Ghost Demon’s fingers. Even before that, the Ghost Demon had no intention of letting Wei Yan-ho live. So what would change now if they knew who each other was?
“Honestly, I’m not particularly interested in people like you. Unlike my father or brother, I don’t really want to know what chivalry is. I’m not diligent enough to chase after and punish people who have nothing to do with me just because they’ve committed crimes.”
The Ghost Demon’s face contorted.
“But I don’t seem kind enough to just let go of gentlemen who come looking for trouble like this either. I’ve been feeling my insides boiling since earlier, so it seems you’ll have to help me vent my anger.”
“Vent your anger?”
The Ghost Demon’s eyes began to tremble.
He was the Ghost Demon.
Wasn’t the Ghost Path Twin Demons a name so infamous in the past that even crying children would stop their tears?
But now, fifty years after returning to the martial world, some brat was saying he would use the Ghost Path Twin Demons to vent his anger.
“You! You insolent…”
At that moment, Wei Yan-ho’s sword moved again.
This time he could see it clearly. The sword that seemed to move very slowly suddenly accelerated and came straight for the Ghost Demon’s jaw.
The Ghost Demon realized one thing.
Just because you can see something doesn’t mean you can avoid it.
He desperately turned his head after seeing the sword approaching, but Wei Yan-ho’s sword mercilessly sliced through his ear.
“Kraaaah!”
The burning pain felt on the side of his face.
Thud.
And his familiar ear that fell to the ground.
The Ghost Demon looked at his fingers and ear that had fallen to the ground with an expression mixed with rage and bewilderment, then suddenly let out a shriek and rushed toward Wei Yan-ho.
“Ghost, Ghost Demon!”
He heard the Blade Demon’s desperate cry from behind, but it was insufficient to stop the Ghost Demon who had lost his reason to rage.
“Uaaaah! You! You brat!”
Using the Green Demon Hand with his one remaining intact hand, the Ghost Demon pounced toward Wei Yan-ho.
“Big brotherrrr!”
Wei Su-ryeon screamed at the top of her lungs.
The Ghost Demon’s and Wei Yan-ho’s eyes met.
At that moment, the Ghost Demon felt a cold chill as if his body had fallen into an ice cave.
The feeling of all the blood in his body turning ice cold.
‘What kind of eyes are those…’
Wei Yan-ho’s sword moved as he looked at the Ghost Demon with sunken eyes.
“Humans should…”
Slash!
The Ghost Demon’s arm was cut off and flew through the air.
“Know their place…”
Slash!
Both legs were also cut off and rolled on the ground.
“To be human.”
Having lost the legs to support him, the Ghost Demon fell to the ground and looked at Wei Yan-ho with bewilderment still fully contained in his eyes. Blood gushed out like a waterfall from his severed arms and legs. His consciousness rapidly faded.
“If you asked me whether I’ve seen worse villains than you people among those I’ve met so far, I’d have to think about it. But one thing is certain – among them, there was no one who killed people for fun.”
“You…”
“Die like that. Having your throat cut in one stroke would be too luxurious a death for people like you.”
The Ghost Demon tried to open his mouth to say something, but couldn’t bring himself to speak the words he intended and died just like that. It was an incredibly pathetic death for someone called the Ghost Demon of the Ghost Path Twin Demons who had rampaged across the world.
Wei Su-ryeon looked at Wei Yan-ho with vacant eyes.
‘Is that really my big brother?’
The brother she remembered was always lazy and crafty. Such a person might become a master through luck, but Wei Su-ryeon had never imagined him showing such a manly side.
Wei Yan-ho quietly looked at the lifeless Ghost Demon. The Ghost Demon’s corpse, so resentful that he couldn’t even close his eye which was growing cold.
“Hmm.”
Wei Yan-ho flicked his sword toward the ground.
This was his first murder since entering the martial world, but he felt no qualms about it. He only thought that he had killed someone who deserved to die.
Wei Yan-ho’s head slowly turned toward the Blade Demon.
“Ghost Demon…”
The Blade Demon was trembling as if he couldn’t believe the death of the Ghost Demon, with whom he had spent his entire life.
“Are you grieving?”
At the calm question, the Blade Demon glared at Wei Yan-ho with widened eyes.
“Don’t you think all the relatives of the people you’ve killed until now felt the same way? Then there would be nothing to feel wronged about or sorrowful about, right?”
“You, what do you know!”
“Ah, I don’t particularly want to know either.”
Wei Yan-ho picked up his sword and walked toward the Blade Demon.
“If you’re that grief-stricken, you can meet in the afterlife. Don’t worry. I’ll send you to follow him right away.”
The Blade Demon looked at Wei Yan-ho with desolate eyes.
Where did such a monster come from?
Most sect leaders of major sword schools couldn’t guarantee victory against the Ghost Demon. No, unless they were at the level of a great sect’s supreme elder, they wouldn’t dare compete with the Ghost Demon.
But this young bastard in front of him hadn’t just defeated the Ghost Demon – he had sent him straight to hell in an instant, like an adult playing with a child.
‘This is impossible.’
But since he had seen it with his own eyes, he couldn’t help but believe it.
Shing.
The Blade Demon drew his beloved blade.
“Wait a moment.”
When Wei Yan-ho quietly looked at him, the Blade Demon spoke while gripping his blade.
“Just wait a little. I’m not quite ready.”
“Nothing will change by stalling for time.”
“…I’m not stalling for time. I just have the selfish desire to do my best as a hero for my final moment.”
“Oh, is that so?”
Instantly, Wei Yan-ho’s sword flew toward the Blade Demon’s forehead like a beam of light.
“Kuk!”
Clang!
He barely managed to deflect the sword by raising his blade, but Wei Yan-ho’s White Sword moved as if it were alive, nimbly targeting the Blade Demon’s throat again.
Because of this, the Blade Demon had to deflect the incoming sword without being able to speak a word.
Sword techniques?
There was no time for such things.
Each strike was aimed at his life. If his response was even slightly delayed, he would go straight to the afterlife.
“A hero?”
Wei Yan-ho let out a low sneer.
The Blade Demon’s face contorted as hideously as it could possibly become.
“Trash who go around killing innocent people with martial arts calling themselves heros – how ridiculous. A hero’s death? You shouldn’t wish for such luxuries.”
Even in the midst of this, the Blade Demon desperately blocked the incoming sword with all his might.
But what made him even more anguished wasn’t the incoming sword or himself swinging his blade like a madman to block it… it was the fact that Wei Yan-ho still had the leisure to open his mouth and speak while driving him to the extreme.
That meant that if Wei Yan-ho wanted to, he could take his life right now.
“Uaaaaaaah!”
The Blade Demon let out a shriek and deflected Wei Yan-ho’s sword with all his strength.
Thung!
Taking advantage of the gap when the deflected sword was temporarily pushed back into the air, the Blade Demon did his absolute best to deploy his blade.
Gathering all his internal energy from his toes and pushing it into his blade, the Blade Demon changed to an Overhead Strike stance. Then, one strike!
The Blade Demon brought his blade down with the momentum to split the entire world.
But Wei Yan-ho calmly retrieved his sword and smiled slightly.
“A hero’s death…”
Wei Yan-ho’s sword began to slowly emit light.
Pure white light.
Wei Yan-ho’s sword, emitting pure white light without a single blemish, was thrust straight forward.
And the Blade Demon saw it.
The radiance that covered the entire world.
It was as if the whole world had been covered in pure white.
The Blade Demon, who had been bringing his blade down, saw that scene and recalled one name in his mind.
That place where all the swords of the world are said to exist.
And that very place where the sword that would rule all the swords of the world is also said to exist.
“Ten, Ten Thousand Swords…”
But before that voice could even escape, the pure white radiance covered the Blade Demon’s body.
Wei Yan-ho watched the scene and quietly muttered.
“Since you couldn’t live like a hero, you should at least die like one.”
It was the moment when the Ghost Path Twin Demons who had commanded the world put the final period on their lives.
