Chapter 69

“I can’t let you take that young lady…”

Wei Yan-ho fell into serious contemplation.

The noise had gone beyond excessive, and he had crawled to the door with great effort, thinking he might ask them to quiet down just a little.

He had deep concerns about whether this matter was worth enduring the effort of stretching out his arm to open the door, but he decided to endure that much for the sake of more comfortable sleep.

The problem arose after that.

When he opened the door and barely squeezed his body out, Jin Ye-ran was heading outside with some rough-looking fellow.

Having lived off scraps for nearly twenty years, Wei Yan-ho immediately sized up the situation upon seeing it, and once he sized it up, calculations began.

In truth, Wei Yan-ho had no particular reason to help Jin Ye-ran. He had simply come here following Moon Yu-hwan’s recommendation to visit Sacred Hand Hall.

But he couldn’t turn away from the current situation because Jin Ye-ran was the person who prepared his meals.

Looking at how Jin So-ah behaved, it was clear as day that the moment Jin Ye-ran disappeared, he’d have trouble getting even a cold potato, let alone proper meals.

So how could he just stand by and watch Jin Ye-ran being dragged away!

For Wei Yan-ho, who had been reborn with the addition of gluttony to his laziness thanks to his wicked master’s teachings, the delicacies served in his room at every meal were something he couldn’t give up.

Of course, it was a bit uncomfortable, but wasn’t uncomfortably eaten delicacies a hundred times better than comfortably eaten stale rice?

“Hey, wait a moment.”

Wei Yan-ho stopped Jwa-geol.

But Jwa-geol couldn’t understand this situation at all.

“Is he really crazy?”

Jwa-geol shook his head left and right.

He had tried not to associate with him, thinking he was a madman, but his actions were becoming more and more ridiculous as time went on.

‘Let’s be patient.’

There was nothing to gain from getting into a fight with a madman.

“Let’s go.”

Jwa-geol urged Jin Ye-ran.

Jin Ye-ran looked back at Wei Yan-ho with eyes that seemed to hold some regret, then sighed deeply and turned around again.

Just as she was about to take a step, Wei Yan-ho’s voice flew out again.

“I said you can’t take her.”

Jwa-geol’s patience finally exploded.

“This crazy bastard, I’ve been watching and watching!”

Jwa-geol turned around with eyes ready to shoot fire and glared at Wei Yan-ho.

“Hey! You crazy bastard! Why can’t I!”

“…Then who’s going to make my meals?”

“Why should this person have to prepare your meals!”

“I don’t know that either. But the person who’s been giving me meals until now is that young lady, so if that young lady disappears, there won’t be anyone to prepare my meals.”

“Really?”

Jwa-geol ground his teeth crunch crunch and began walking toward Wei Yan-ho.

“So meals are the problem, is that it? Meals? Then if you don’t eat those meals, there won’t be a problem, right?”

“Huh? Does it work that way?”

Wei Yan-ho was forced into serious contemplation about human survival and eating.

If humans didn’t need to eat meals, there would be more time for sleeping, and how much richer life would become!

How could he not have thought of something so simple!

‘It’s because of Master!’

This was all because his master had drilled into his head the fixed notion that not eating meals would increase training time. He really was someone who had unknowingly influenced Wei Yan-ho far too much.

But why was that uncle approaching with such a menacing face?

“Stop it!”

Jin Ye-ran grasped the situation and desperately grabbed Jwa-geol’s arm.

But Jwa-geol simply shook off Jin Ye-ran and rushed toward Wei Yan-ho.

“I’ll make you return to your right mind today.”

“Huh?”

Wei Yan-ho opened his mouth wide as he watched Jwa-geol’s fist flying toward him.

Why was this kind uncle suddenly attacking him?

“Ah, no!”

Bang!

But his mouth was slow and the fist was fast.

His body reacted on its own to the fist that flew right in front of his face, striking Jwa-geol’s jaw.

Urgh!

Jwa-geol made a sound like air escaping from his lungs and floated up into the air.

Whoa…”

Wei Yan-ho made an exclamation of confusion at the sight.

Thud!

Jwa-geol fell to the ground, sending dust and stone fragments flying up.

“Are you okay?”

The bystanders who had been watching the situation stared at Wei Yan-ho in bewilderment.

Jwa-geol, who had been trying to hit Wei Yan-ho, suddenly floated up into the air and tumbled to the ground, making them wonder if Wei Yan-ho had done something, but he seemed completely oblivious.

“What kind of magic is this?”

The patients rubbed their eyes.

Urgh…”

Jwa-geol struggled to lift his body from the ground.

‘Wh-what happened?’

Jwa-geol gathered his fading consciousness and recalled his memories. He had definitely intended to give Wei Yan-ho a taste of his own medicine with a good hit.

But suddenly his vision flashed, then he saw the sky, and he briefly lost consciousness from the extreme pain in his back.

What on earth had happened?

“Are you okay?”

Ugh?”

At the voice from beside him, Jwa-geol turned his head with difficulty.

“Ah, I’m sorry about that. I didn’t mean to do that… I’ve been tormented so much that when someone tries to hit me, I automatically counterattack without realizing it.”

Jwa-geol forced his barely opening eyes wide and glared at Wei Yan-ho.

“So, so you’re saying you hit me right now?”

“I said it wasn’t on purpose.”

“…”

“Besides, you tried to hit me first, so this can be called self-defense.”

Jwa-geol looked at Wei Yan-ho with eyes boiling with absurdity.

Should he believe what that madman was saying right now?

He had definitely been hit by something.

And now the perpetrator had confessed.

There was someone who hit and someone who was hit, but Jwa-geol couldn’t understand this situation at all.

“You hit me?”

“I said I’m sorry.”

“Really?”

Wei Yan-ho sighed.

After his long, long life with Baek Mu-han and coming out into the world, what he realized was that there was absolutely no such thing as trust in this damn world.

Even when he spoke the truth, they wouldn’t believe him, so what could he do?

“Actually…”

Wei Yan-ho cleared his throat.

“I can understand not being able to believe it even when I tell you, but since that’s the truth, I have nothing else to say. Anyway, I’ve told you.”

Jwa-geol rubbed his numb jaw and blinked his eyes.

So… that madman had hit him right now?

Him?

That idiot wrapped in a blanket with sleep crusts all over his eyes had hit him?

‘Am I supposed to believe this?’

And he had delivered a blow powerful enough to knock out his consciousness.

If he thought about it logically…

‘That’s ridiculous!’

Rather than believing that guy who looked like he couldn’t even catch a chicken had sent him flying through the air, it would be better to think there was someone here protecting him.

‘Either way, it’s not good news.’

It would be a problem if that dim-witted fool had sent him flying, and it would also be a problem if there was a master protecting that dim-witted fool.

Hmm…”

Jwa-geol felt the situation was turning very badly.

‘Should I test it one more time?’

Even if there was a hidden master, since they hadn’t left any injuries, it seemed they didn’t want to make a big deal of it. In that case, testing it once more wouldn’t result in losing his head.

Jwa-geol slowly approached Wei Yan-ho.

“Uh, that won’t do?”

Wei Yan-ho tilted his head.

“Uncle, what are you trying to do now?”

Hmph!

Jwa-geol clenched his fist tightly and brought it down on Wei Yan-ho’s head.

In that moment.

Thunk!

A striking sound completely different in weight from before erupted, and Jwa-geol flew through the air like a puppy hit by a four-horse carriage, fell to the ground, and rolled at tremendous speed like going down a slope.

Urghhhhhh…”

A groan like something seeping from hell flowed from Jwa-geol’s mouth.

This hurt far too much.

It felt like everything above his neck had disappeared.

“So I told you not to do that.”

Wei Yan-ho clicked his tongue as if feeling sorry.

“I absolutely don’t want to do this. If you lived with a nasty old man who attacks first whether you’re resting or sleeping for just two months, you’d become like me too.”

What on earth was that madman talking about?

“Don’t worry. This is a medical clinic. They’ll treat you if you’re injured.”

Jwa-geol forced his drooping eyes open and struggled to get up.

He felt a crisis that if he took one more hit like this, even if he survived, he might have to live as a cripple for the rest of his life.

Urghhhh…”

This time, thanks to keeping his eyes wide open, he could clearly see Wei Yan-ho’s hand pop out from under the blanket and strike his jaw just before his fist reached Wei Yan-ho’s head.

How could a punch hurt so deep into the bones!

Jwa-geol had lived in the underworld, hitting and being hit countless times. He was used to being hit. Moreover, to survive in the underworld, he constantly trained in Iron Cloth Technique, a low-level external martial art.

But even though he hadn’t been hit with a blade, just getting punched once hurt this much…

How could a human fist deliver such shock to Jwa-geol’s body, which was as hard as iron?

‘He’s a master!’

His thoughts were short, his calculations quick.

He didn’t want to admit it, but he had to acknowledge that this madman before him was a master. Moreover, a real master who could turn someone like him into a bloody mess in an instant if he set his mind to it.

“…Where are you from, Master?”

Jwa-geol’s manner of speaking became respectful.

“I’m not a master.”

He had never heard of a madman becoming a master, so that guy must not be a madman but an eccentric.

The most dangerous thing in the martial world wasn’t the righteous sects or the underworld.

It was the eccentrics who had strong martial arts but whose thoughts were completely incomprehensible.

Such people were absolutely not to be involved with because you never knew what they might do – that was common sense in this world.

And in Jwa-geol’s view, the guy before him had all the elements of such an eccentric.

“I don’t know why you’re involving yourself in this matter, but this is a personal affair.”

“That’s right.”

“Moreover, we have a clear debt contract. Even if we go to the authorities, they’ll side with us.”

“I think so.”

“So please don’t involve yourself any further.”

Wei Yan-ho answered with a blank expression.

“That’s a bit difficult.”

“Why?”

“I told you before. That young lady prepares my meals. If that young lady isn’t here, there’s no one to give me food.”

“…”

Jwa-geol’s face trembled.

So it was true that he had caused all this trouble because of meals?

“You’re saying you interfered with Black Spider Gang’s business just because of mere food?”

“Black Spider Gang?”

“The faction I belong to, and the place that young woman owes money to. No matter how great you are, Black Spider Gang will never overlook this matter.”

“Uh, hmm…”

Wei Yan-ho tilted his head, then smiled and said,

“Then can I withdraw now?”

“This son of a…”

For the first time in his life, a curse flew out of Jin So-ah’s mouth.
