Chapter 59

Thanks to receiving over ten seriously injured patients at once, the household of Sacred Hand Hall had to spend their time so busy they couldn’t even catch their breath. Even the servants reduced their sleeping hours to care for the patients.

However, there was one person who alone escaped this busy flow and lived leisurely—of course, it was Wei Yan-ho.

Haaaaaaam!

Since that day, neither Jin So-ah nor Jin Ye-ran had asked Wei Yan-ho to do anything. No, to be precise, since that day, there had been nothing for Wei Yan-ho to do.

Examining the details of the remaining patients and prescribing accordingly wasn’t something Wei Yan-ho could do.

With his careless hands, Wei Yan-ho couldn’t even wrap a bandage properly, and if they gave him work that others could finish in a moment, it would obviously take him four or five shijin.

Since everyone now knew this, no one thought to ask Wei Yan-ho to do anything.

Thanks to this, Wei Yan-ho had been neglected for over five days.

The only fortune was that they brought him meals at mealtime—Wei Yan-ho was living under such thorough indifference.

If it were someone else, they might have been dissatisfied with such indifference toward a guest, but Wei Yan-ho felt no such thing. Rather, he was pleased with this situation where no one sought him out.

Jin So-ah was also busy, so even when bringing meals, she didn’t nag like before, and thanks to this, Wei Yan-ho could roll around on the floor with nothing more to desire.

But that didn’t mean Wei Yan-ho was doing nothing at all.

Even while rolling around on the floor, Wei Yan-ho knew how the clinic was running as clearly as looking at his palm. He couldn’t block the sounds that reached his ears naturally just by lying still.

“Sister, we’re running short of Bone-Setting Powder.”

“Go to the pharmacy and ask for Bone-Setting Powder. We don’t have time to make it from herbs.”

“But if we buy Bone-Setting Powder directly, the price won’t be cheap.”

“Is price a problem when we’re saving lives!”

“But since these patients arrived, we’ve already spent over ten nyang of silver. Since they’re quarry workers, there’s no way to collect payment, and if we keep spending money like this…”

“What are you saying right now! Petty money problems aren’t something you should worry about! Haven’t I told you repeatedly to focus only on treating patients and improving your medical skills!”

“But…”

“Go buy the Bone-Setting Powder. I’ll provide the silver nyang.”

“…Yes.”

Wei Yan-ho clicked his tongue.

Ten silver nyang?

Wei Yan-ho knew Jin So-ah’s words were wrong. Ten nyang was just the cost of medicine for treating patients, and if you included other incidental expenses and the medical fees they should have received, at least twenty silver nyang would have easily disappeared during that time.

It hadn’t been long since Wei Yan-ho had given thirty silver nyang to Jin Ye-ran, but now only ten nyang remained.

Jin So-ah and Jin Ye-ran were doing work tantamount to free service, so considering that labor costs were excluded, there would actually be more money remaining than that, but it was obvious that the day wasn’t far when that money would fly away and the white silver jade necklace they had barely retrieved would go back to the pawnshop.

Tsk.

Wei Yan-ho closed his eyes and sought sleep.

There was much to feel in this place, but he had to endure equally uncomfortable feelings.

Living for others was admirable.

But that admirableness was making Wei Yan-ho uncomfortable.

Hanrim Grand Academy.

After Wei Yan-ho left, Moon Eun-ji, who had barely found peace, received unexpected visitors.

A serious-looking young man and a beggar frowning in every way.

It was truly a mismatched combination.

“Who did you say you came to find?”

The serious-looking young man opened his mouth with a stern face.

“By any chance, is there a fellow named Wei Yan-ho here?”

Moon Eun-ji tilted her head.

“Young Master Wei Yan-ho? He was here.”

“Then where is he now?”

“He’s not here now. It’s been some time since he left.”

Disappointment appeared on the young man’s face.

“Is that so? Then do you happen to know where he went?”

“Yes. He went to the Sacred Hand Hall in Hubei.”

“Are you certain?”

“I called an escort and had him accompany him, so I remember clearly. Young Master Wei Yan-ho went to Hubei. Together with an escort from Swift Dragon Escort Agency.”

The young man nodded.

“Thank you. Then.”

The young man turned around.

Then the beggar’s eyes widened as he asked.

“Where are you going?”

The young man answered as if it were nothing.

“I’m going to Hubei.”

The beggar screamed and collapsed on the spot.

“Can’t go! Won’t go! Rather kill me, you bastard! I ran from Kaifeng to here without even drinking water! And now you want to go straight to Hubei tonight? Kill me! Kill me! Rather kill me!”

The young man said with a cold face.

“Get up.”

“Oh my! People of the world! Look at this heartless, tearless bastard! Where in the world is there someone who drags around a beggar who hasn’t even eaten gruel and makes him suffer!”

Moon Eun-ji sighed.

“Please rest before you go.”

The cold young man shook his head.

“No. I cannot cause trouble.”

“If I send away guests who came in tonight, the world will criticize me. I’ll prepare meals and bath water, so please rest before you go.”

Worry appeared on the young man’s face.

“I’d rather die than go. My feet are on fire, on fire!”

The young man frowned.

Even if going to Hubei wasn’t difficult, if he tried to find a place called Sacred Hand Hall alone, it would probably take considerable time. To get there quickly, this beggar’s help was essential.

There’s no choice.

Though he had hurried with an urgent heart, he had certainly been too hasty in his rush. The beggar might be fine since he’s a beggar, but his own appearance was also disgracefully messy.

“Then I’ll cause trouble.”

“But may I ask one thing?”

“Please speak.”

“What is your relationship with Young Master Wei Yan-ho?”

The young man smiled lightly and answered.

“I’m that fellow’s older brother. My name is Wi San-ho.”

Wi San-ho entered the room Moon Eun-ji had prepared and finished bathing.

After drying himself, putting on his lower garments, and coming outside, Jang-il, who had become fluffy clean, grumbled.

“For a Beggar Sect branch head to be in this state—if the King Beggar saw this, he’d foam at the mouth.”

Wi San-ho burst into laughter.

Though Moon Eun-ji had prepared a room, he couldn’t bring someone who looked like a beggar inside. Thanks to this, Jang-il had to carefully place outside the door the rags he had treasured for years, and for the first time since coming of age, had to soak his body in warm water.

Though there was the trouble of having to prepare new bath water because the bath water turned pitch black, thanks to this, the room could maintain cleanliness as if no beggar had entered.

Jang-il, who had been grumbling, looked at Wi San-ho and whistled.

Whew~ That’s no joke?”

Wi San-ho’s solid upper body, forged with muscle, was impressive enough to draw spontaneous admiration from anyone who saw it.

The large and small scars remaining were somewhat of a flaw, but in a way, they emphasized Wi San-ho’s masculinity, so they weren’t unsightly.

“As expected of the Demon-Slaying Sword. Without experiencing countless real battles from childhood, such martial prowess couldn’t emerge. But…”

Jang-il looked at a long diagonal cut across the middle of Wi San-ho’s chest.

It seemed very old, but at a glance, it looked like it would have been extremely serious.

“Is that a scar from when you caught the Tailless Dark Demon? I heard you almost died?”

Wi San-ho glanced down to look at his scar. He traced with his finger the long wound that cut from his left chest to his right side.

“Tailless Dark Demon?”

“Yes. I heard you almost died then.”

“Compared to when I received this scar, the wound I received then was just a scratch.”

Wi San-ho smiled bitterly.

“Then who on earth inflicted that scar? Was there a demon who dragged the world’s Demon-Slaying Sword to death’s door?”

“Demon…”

Wi San-ho looked into empty space.

Brother! Get a hold of yourself! Brother!

Wi San-ho quietly looked into empty space and opened his mouth.

“It’s a scar created by my recklessness when I didn’t know how terrifying a sword could be.”

“Huh?”

“Thanks to that, I almost died and almost ruined that fellow.”

“What are you talking about?”

Wi San-ho spoke in a monologue tone, half-listening to Jang-il’s words.

“That should have been enough, but I made another mistake.”

Jang-il looked at Wi San-ho with a face that didn’t understand. He wanted to argue, but Wi San-ho’s atmosphere was too heavy to say anything.

“That fellow.”

Jang-il flopped down on the bed.

“Ah, I don’t know. Anyway, I’m hungry. If I don’t put something in, the demons in my stomach will tear me apart.”

“Are you planning to beg?”

“Beg my ass. If I went out begging in this state, I’d get beaten to death! A fellow with intact limbs going out to beg!”

Knock knock.

“May I come in?”

“Yes, please come in.”

Wi San-ho hurriedly put on his upper garment.

The door opened and Moon Eun-ji entered the room with servants carrying a table. Various foods were arranged on the table.

“I thought you might be hungry, so I prepared a meal.”

Jang-il flew toward the table before his body could even touch the floor.

Wowwww! Miss, thank you! I will never forget this kindness even if I die.”

Wi San-ho frowned at Jang-il’s disgraceful behavior of already stuffing food into his mouth, then bowed deeply toward Moon Eun-ji.

“I’m grateful for your kindness.”

Moon Eun-ji waved her hands dismissively.

“It’s nothing. If you think about it, we received great kindness from your younger brother, so this is nothing.”

“Did you say kindness?”

Moon Eun-ji seemed troubled and held back her words.

“I can’t tell you the details. It’s not something to make known outside. So just know that it’s so.”

“I understand.”

Moon Eun-ji looked at Wi San-ho and tilted her head.

Wei Yan-ho and Wi San-ho didn’t have much resemblance. While Wei Yan-ho was lazy and talkative, Wi San-ho was serious and tight-lipped.

Personality aside, even in appearance, the two didn’t have much resemblance. Wi San-ho was objectively handsome. Anyone could see he had strong, defined features.

On the other hand, Wei Yan-ho could also be called handsome in his own way, but compared to Wi San-ho, his face was lacking. Unlike Wi San-ho’s strong features, he had an overall delicate impression.

Just because they’re brothers doesn’t mean they all have to look alike.

If you thought about it, there were many siblings who didn’t resemble each other even though they were family. It wasn’t strange enough to find odd.

“Anyway, rest well today. I’ll call an escort for you tomorrow.”

“Did you say escort?”

“Yes. He traveled with an escort.”

“With that fellow’s personality, he wouldn’t have gone as a jangja or escort, so there must have been a personal escort.”[TL/N: Jangja means the eldest son of a family, often the main heir.]

Moon Eun-ji laughed softly.

“No. He just followed the escort. As cargo.”

“Cargo?”

Wi San-ho tilted his head at the incomprehensible words, but Moon Eun-ji didn’t try to satisfy his curiosity. Wei Yan-ho was a person difficult to explain in words anyway. Wi San-ho seemed to know this and didn’t bother to ask further.

“And if you happen to meet him…”

“Yes.”

Wi San-ho calmly waited for the words to follow.
