CLS-Chapter 110
by SaberToothChapter 110
Seomun Da-yeon stared blankly at Wei Yan-ho, not understanding what was happening.
‘Is it because of fear?’
Though it was an irreverent thought, she suspected he might have gone slightly mad. What was he saying while looking at a place where no one was there?
But soon she realized that Wei Yan-ho hadn’t gone crazy.
A group of people emerged from the bushes ahead.
“…How did you know?”
“How indeed?”
Wei Yan-ho just smiled in circles as if he had no intention of answering.
Those who had emerged said nothing more and quietly glared at Wei Yan-ho.
They had discovered the whereabouts of Wei Yan-ho and Seomun Da-yeon quite some time ago. They had been about to eliminate Seomun Da-yeon immediately, but were assessing the situation due to the sudden appearance of this being called Wei Yan-ho.
If Wei Yan-ho had come to help Seomun Da-yeon, they thought that relaxed attitude might be an expression of confidence.
“Are you from the Orthodox Alliance?”
“No.”
Wei Yan-ho waved his hand dismissively.
“I have nothing to do with them. I’d rather not get involved with them if possible.”
“You have no relation… Do you expect us to believe that?”
“Whether you believe it or not is up to you, but I really was just sleeping up there and happened to meet this person.”
“I’ll believe you.”
The man who had been talking with Wei Yan-ho nodded.
“I’ll believe you, so have your remaining conversation with the King of Hell.”
Watching the demonic cultists stealthily building an encirclement, Wei Yan-ho looked back at Seomun Da-yeon with apparent annoyance.
“You didn’t say there were this many.”
“…I’m truly sorry about this.”
Seomun Da-yeon had nothing to say even if she had ten mouths.
Wei Yan-ho had done nothing wrong. If she hadn’t led the demonic cultists this way, Wei Yan-ho would have slept peacefully and continued on his way without incident.
If Wei Yan-ho came to harm here, all the responsibility would be on Seomun Da-yeon.
“Wait a moment.”
“…Hmm?”
When Seomun Da-yeon stepped forward and opened her mouth, the demonic cultists’ movements stopped.
The mouse was already trapped in the poison, so there was no need to rush.
“This person really has no relation to anything. So please let this person go.”
“Why should we do that?”
“Because he’s not involved.”
“Just seeing us already makes him involved.”
“This person knows nothing. Even if he saw you, he wouldn’t know who you are.”
“…Explaining everything would be bothersome.”
Sensing their unwillingness to continue the conversation, Seomun Da-yeon urgently shouted.
“I’ll give you all the information you want.”
The demonic cultist’s eyes gleamed slightly.
Seomun Da-yeon was someone who worked in the Information Division of the Orthodox Alliance. Given her position, she would know many of the Orthodox Alliance’s secrets. These types of people wouldn’t open their mouths under any torture, but they were thorough about keeping promises.
There was no reason to refuse when she was offering to willingly tell them with her own mouth what they couldn’t extract through torture.
“I know that I can’t escape alive from this situation anyway. In exchange for letting this person go, I’ll tell you everything I know. He really is just someone I met while traveling. If this person had been a member of the Orthodox Alliance, I would have already escaped from here and fled far away.”
The demonic cultist nodded, thinking it made sense.
“We’ll accept the deal.”
Letting one insignificant person go wouldn’t change anything. As long as the fact that they were here didn’t get out, it would be fine. Even if Seomun Da-yeon’s death drew the Orthodox Alliance’s attention, as long as they could hide that the Demonic Cult had been here, it didn’t matter.
Seomun Da-yeon turned around to look at Wei Yan-ho and bowed her head.
“I’m sorry for causing you trouble.”
At the same time, Seomun Da-yeon whispered quietly.
“These people might change their minds, so run away quickly. I’ll buy you as much time as possible. Get far away and forget everything that happened today. If you clumsily try to inform the Orthodox Alliance, you’ll be in danger too.”
“Eh?”
Wei Yan-ho tilted his head.
“But there’s a problem.”
“What?”
Wei Yan-ho pointed at the demonic cultists and said.
“I know those fellows are Demonic Cult members, you know? You told me earlier.”
The demonic cultists flinched and quickly moved to complete their encirclement.
“Why, why did you say that!”
Seomun Da-yeon screamed in horror.
“I had barely managed to get them to spare your life…”
“…No, I thought you were mistaken since you were telling me to pretend I didn’t know something I clearly knew.”
“Good heavens.”
It felt like the sky was spinning.
She had thought he was a bit lacking, but she never imagined he could be this stupid.
Hadn’t he just kicked away with his own foot the lifeline she had carefully prepared for him?
“I don’t care anymore.”
Seomun Da-yeon gave up.
She had tried to save him even by doing things she should never do as an intelligence agent, but he had thrown away that opportunity himself. She had done all she could.
“Don’t resent me.”
Wei Yan-ho remained calm even after hearing that.
“Is that what you say to someone after waking them up from sleep?”
Was waking up from sleep really important right now? Right now?
Seomun Da-yeon felt her anger flare up, but soon let go of her feelings. What was the point of getting angry when only death awaited both her and Wei Yan-ho now?
“Since it’s come to this, please kill us cleanly.”
“Did you think we’d torture you?”
The demonic cultists spoke in low voices and drew their blades.
“We’d prefer you not compare us to those low-quality types.”
Wei Yan-ho nodded.
“Well, Father always said that when it comes to martial bearing, the Demonic Cult members are actually better than those so-called prestigious orthodox sects.”
Seomun Da-yeon’s eyes widened.
If anyone else had heard that, it would have caused an uproar.
What kind of person was Wei Yan-ho to say such things so casually, and what kind of father would say such things to his child?
“Does your father know us?”
“Hmm, well now…”
Wei Yan-ho scratched his head vigorously.
“Is there anyone who doesn’t know the Demonic Cult? In such cases, you should ask, ‘Is your honorable father connected to us?'”
“Is your father related to us?”
“My, you don’t know how to speak respectfully. Anyway, well, fine. My father and your side, hmm…”
Wei Yan-ho grinned.
“Have no relationship. No relationship at all.”
“We’ve wasted time.”
The demonic cultist brandished his blade and began charging forward.
“Hey, you should listen to people until the end.”
Wei Yan-ho looked at the charging demonic cultist and casually pulled out something long and rolled up, like a club, from his bundle.
“Hmm.”
Wei Yan-ho, who had been pondering whether to unwrap the cloth covering the club or not, was startled when he saw the demonic cultist who had already charged right up to him.
“Whoa, why so fast?”
“There will be no pain.”
Swoosh.
The blade wielded by the demonic cultist cut through the air and reached Wei Yan-ho’s neck.
It was truly in the blink of an eye.
The blade swung as soon as the words ended was so fast it seemed to stretch long like taffy.
Clang!
But that blade didn’t reach Wei Yan-ho’s neck.
“Huh?”
As the demonic cultist slightly opened his mouth looking at the club that had blocked his blade, Wei Yan-ho lifted his leg and kicked the demonic cultist away.
“Kugh!”
With a sound like air being released, the demonic cultist flew up into the air and crashed ungracefully to the ground.
“Leader!”
The surrounding demonic cultists rushed to him in surprise.
Wei Yan-ho shook the club in his hand a few times, then looked at Seomun Da-yeon, who was gaping beside him, and smiled.
“Wait just a moment. I also have something to say to these gentlemen.”
Wei Yan-ho brushed off his club and stepped forward.
“Kugh, who are you…”
“Ah, wait a moment.”
Wei Yan-ho stretched his hand forward to block the demonic cultist’s words.
“Since this will be a long story, let me say everything first before we go. I don’t particularly hold a grudge, but people have their duties. You’ll understand why we have to fight once you know who I am.”
“…”
What was he talking about?
“This is what I’d call the harm of early education, or perhaps the harm of brainwashing education? I don’t particularly hold a grudge, but I’ve heard so much that I can’t just let it slide. I won’t send you off peacefully. Because I’m the second son of the Guangdong Wei Family. My name is Wei Yan-ho.”
“Guangdong Wei Family! Wi Jeong-han!”
The fallen demonic cultist sprang up and gripped his blade properly.
“So you’re the son of that Righteous Hero Sword bastard who we couldn’t find satisfying even if we chewed him up and spat him out.”
“See, this is faster.”
Wei Yan-ho chuckled.
Rather than explaining the situation this way and that, having his father’s name come up was much faster. His father and the Demonic Cult were enemies beyond description – the term “mortal enemies” wasn’t even sufficient.
“Eh, um, and…”
Wei Yan-ho unwrapped the cloth rolled around his club.
“I don’t particularly live as a filial son, but Father gave me strict instructions about something, so I should follow them as a basic principle. So, eh…”
As he unwrapped the cloth, a pristine white sword sheath revealed itself.
Shing.
Wei Yan-ho drew his sword.
This was the first time Wei Yan-ho had drawn his sword since entering the martial world.
“You’d better prepare yourselves. My sword will be sharper than Father’s.”
Wei Yan-ho’s sword gleamed in the moonlight.
“Ho?”
The old man looked down from the tree and smiled.
“Wei Yan-ho, you said?”
“He appears to be Righteous Hero Sword’s child.”
“Let me see… Righteous Hero Sword, if that friend’s child, wouldn’t it be Wei San-ho? Demon-Slaying Sword Wei San-ho.”
“Righteous Hero Sword has two sons.”
“I see. Then that child is the second son. But why hasn’t there been any rumors about him in the martial world? A child of that caliber should have stood out like an awl in a pocket.”
“I understand that Righteous Hero Sword’s second son went missing long ago. There were rumors he was involved with a Color Demon.”
“Oh my.”
The old man clicked his tongue.
“It seems he’s had some fortuitous encounters since then. It wouldn’t have been easy to develop such martial prowess at that age.”
The old man looked at Wei Yan-ho with what seemed like pity.
“How deep a hell must he have crossed to build such skill at such a young age? Our children should learn from this.”
“How could you compare him to our young masters?”
“Well, I’m not sure. From what I can see now, our children should be able to win easily, but…”
The old man’s eyes sank deeply.
‘That can’t be all there is.’
If that was everything, he wouldn’t have been able to detect Red Moon’s concealment either.
“Should we eliminate him?”
“Hmm…”
The old man swallowed his contemplation.
The situation had become complicated, but losing such a talent really didn’t sit well with him. Isn’t it the nature of old people to want to watch talented young children grow?
“Let’s observe for now.”
“If the fact that the Demonic Cult was here becomes known, it won’t be good.”
“Child.”
At that moment, the one guarding the old man’s back prostrated himself on the ground.
“Give your command.”
“Do you know the Demonic Cult?”
“…”
“If the Demonic Cult were such an easy place, there would be no need to attach the character ‘demon’ (魔) to what should originally be called a heretical sect. It’s called the Demonic Cult because it’s feared and shunned.”
“I’ll keep that in mind.”
“No matter how much they’re remnants, they’re those who’ve inherited the name of the Demonic Cult. We mustn’t underestimate them.”
“Yes!”
The old man looked at Wei Yan-ho with interested eyes.
“But that child too…”
At that moment, the old man’s eyes began to shake greatly.
“That, that is?”
