Ch. 89 Sword God From The Ruined World

“Since you suddenly went from Guam back to Canada, this is our first chance to meet.”

Gloria, sitting pressed close to Seo Do-jun, was being extremely proactive, completely disregarding the surrounding gazes.

“Ahem!”

Some older attendees pretended to avert their eyes from Gloria’s openly affectionate behavior while stealing glances at her beautiful figure.

“You look much better than when we last met. Come to think of it, your body seems different too…”

Like Hyun Joo-yeon, Gloria also noticed the subtle changes in Seo Do-jun’s appearance.

Gloria boldly ran her hands over Seo Do-jun’s arms and even reached toward his chest, making Hyun Joo-yeon’s face flush bright red.

“Wh-what kind of behavior is that in front of others?”

Hyun Joo-yeon whispered a warning meant only for Gloria.

“I’m just checking how Kassal’s body has improved… Is there a problem?”

“I mean, why are you casually touching a man’s body like that?”

While Hyun Joo-yeon clearly showed displeasure at this unacceptable behavior, Gloria looked completely baffled by her exaggerated reaction.

Caught between the two women, Seo Do-jun stood up when he saw the meeting wasn’t progressing properly.

“Kassal?”

“Seo Do-jun?”

“Both of you, move apart.”

He walked over and sat in a different seat.

“So cold after meeting again after so long,” Gloria openly pouted, while Hyun Joo-yeon furrowed her brows to show her displeasure.

Ignoring this, Seo Do-jun asked Chairman Na Tae-hwang:

“What’s the current situation in the Republic of Namibia?”

The previously chaotic atmosphere finally returned to normal.

“Team Leader Kim Gi-wook will explain the details.”

As soon as the Chairman finished speaking, a lanky man wearing gold-rimmed glasses stood up.

Kim Gi-wook, Head of the International Affairs Team at the South Korean Hero Association, was only a C-rank Hero but played a crucial role in overseas operations thanks to his brilliant mind.

“First, let me explain Namibia’s current situation.”

Kim Gi-wook began his briefing using intelligence gathered from various nations – satellite images, real-time border photos from neighboring countries, and intelligence from the U.S., Russia, China, France and Germany.

After summarizing all this information:

“So you’re saying we know nothing about what’s happening in Namibia?”

Vice Chairman Park Seong-cheol frowned openly at what he saw as unnecessarily complicated explanations.

Despite the public rebuke, Kim Gi-wook’s expression remained unchanged.

“Correct. We’ve exhausted all external observation methods with no results. Currently, deploying personnel directly into Namibia is the only way to gather information.”

Someone needed to enter Namibia during its 8th monster wave – a serious proposal.

“That’s not our concern… What matters is that black fog. People want to know what it is. Have you learned anything about it?”

Namibia was in Africa – realistically, events there had little to do with South Korea in Asia. Hence Vice Chairman Park Seong-cheol’s indifferent attitude.

Chairman Na Tae-hwang internally clicked his tongue at this, as did several others. Park Seong-cheol, rumored to enter politics after his term, was clearly just looking for something to boost his public profile.

“To date, no one has identified the nature of the black fog.”

At this answer, Vice Chairman Park Seong-cheol leaned back in his chair and took out his phone, having given up on gaining anything useful here. Most attendees ignored his behavior, already accustomed to it.

“Are there more photos of the fog?”

Seo Do-jun’s question made even Vice Chairman Park Seong-cheol look up from his phone.

Did he know something about the black fog?

All eyes turned to Seo Do-jun as Kim Gi-wook pulled up clearer images taken by drones just before entering the fog.

But as someone commented:

“It just looks like ordinary fog, just black.”

“Do you know something…?”

Vice Chairman Park Seong-cheol asked Seo Do-jun, subtly dropping honorifics due to the younger man’s age despite his status as the world’s top Hero.

Seo Do-jun remained silent, staring intensely at the screen.

‘If he doesn’t know, he should just say so! What’s with the staring?’

Vice Chairman Park Seong-cheol returned to his phone while others also lost interest when Seo Do-jun said nothing.

“What are South Africa and the other two nations planning?”

This came from Jang Seong-ho, an early-40s man exuding sophistication in his expensive suit.

As South Korea’s second S-rank Hero after Chairman Na Tae-hwang, Jang Seong-ho came from incomparable wealth as a member of P Group (South Korea’s 5th largest conglomerate).

With P Group’s full support, he founded VIP Guild, now the undisputed top guild for five years. In fact, P Group had risen to become South Korea’s top conglomerate thanks to Jang Seong-ho and his guild, making him the nation’s most powerful figure financially and militarily.

Kim Gi-wook checked his watch before answering:

“South African Heroes will soon infiltrate Namibia. They should—”

“Tell them to abort the operation immediately.”

Seo Do-jun cut him off.

“Hero Seo Do-jun, what do you mean?”

At Chairman Na Tae-hwang’s question, Seo Do-jun answered with certainty:

“Anyone entering that fog will die.”

The conference room erupted in shock.

“Can you take responsibility for those words? Do you know what that fog is?”

Vice Chairman Park Seong-cheol’s question went unanswered, but Seo Do-jun’s hardened expression said everything.

The black fog covering Namibia was extremely dangerous.

“Contact them immediately!”

Whether believing Seo Do-jun or not, Chairman Na Tae-hwang ordered Kim to contact South Africa’s Hero Association.

But it was too late.

“They’ve… already begun the operation.”

120 South African Heroes had already crossed the border into the black fog.

“Nothing might happen.”

Vice Chairman Park Seong-cheol tried lightening the heavy atmosphere, but no one agreed.

“Explain in detail. What is that black fog?”

As Chairman Na Tae-hwang asked, Seo Do-jun stared at the images, thinking:

‘If that fog is what I think it is… all of Africa is in danger!’

Not just Africa – Europe and the entire world would be at risk.

Seo Do-jun realized he couldn’t afford to sit still any longer.

“I’ll go to Africa myself.”

His declaration threw the conference room into chaos again.

* * *

“Ughhh…”

“Grrr…”

“Heeehhh…”

Over a hundred South African Heroes lay convulsing on the ground, bloody foam at their mouths, emitting painful moans.

As Seo Do-jun predicted, all 120 Heroes were dying.

Or more accurately, they were…

Step, step, step, step.

“Persistent as ever.”

Vaitel walked casually among the dying Heroes, frowning at the black fog surrounding him.

Clatter, clatter, clatter.

Hundreds of skeletons blocked his path.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh.

Bone arrows flew at him, making him pause.

“Stop these pathetic tricks and come out.”

His warning was answered by giant bone axes flying from the fog.

Crash! Crash! Crash!

They shattered against an invisible barrier before him.

When the attacks continued despite his warning, Vaitel muttered something in the ruined world’s language.

Black wind blades erupted from his body, shredding the skeletons into bone fragments.

“Bwahahaha! You dare fight my undead army?”

A booming voice echoed from within the fog.

“Undead army?”

Vaitel laughed scornfully.

“You think I’d fear mere skeletons?”

“You’ve always underestimated skeletons! I’ll make you understand their perfection!”

The black fog churned violently as the bone fragments on the ground began moving like living things, merging together.

The growing mass of bones finally formed:

SKREEEEE!

A 20-meter tall mega skeleton.

Unfazed even by this monstrous sight, Vaitel extended his hand.

Black flames melted the giant skeleton’s left shoulder.

Despite this, it swung its right arm down at Vaitel’s head.

CRAAACK!

The attack was blocked by his shield, but left visible cracks.

Vaitel’s eye twitched at the damage while the voice from the fog laughed:

“Bwahaha! Let’s see how long you can last!”

Annoyed, Vaitel summoned black fire pillars that melted the giant skeleton rapidly.

Yet even as it dissolved:

Clatter, clatter, clatter.

An endless tide of skeletons emerged from the fog.

“Giggle giggle! How long can you keep this up? Who’ll tire first? Kehahaha!”

The maddened voice grew more excited.

“Why did this madman have to come through…”

Vaitel muttered with a thoroughly displeased expression as the skeleton army advanced.
