SFRW-Chapter 272
by SbmjamCh. 272 Sword God From The Ruined World
The already unbalanced battle became completely one-sided after Jermain’s death, and soon after, Blesra and Rectis met their ends as well.
Though Gettis tried to assist his remaining knights, Seo Do-jun systematically cut off every attempt.
“…You bastard…!”
Watching his most trusted Holy Knights fall, Gettis’ face twisted into something monstrous.
WHOOSH—
The sacred flames enveloping Gettis blazed even fiercer, so intensely that his figure became barely visible within the white inferno.
Now fully merged with the holy fire, Gettis abandoned his spear and unleashed a relentless sword assault.
Seo Do-jun deflected the falling arcs of divine energy, calmly countering strikes aimed at his legs and torso.
Though Gettis was one of the Six Seats, his combat style differed entirely from Vampica’s.
‘Physically and technically, he surpasses Vampica…’
But Vampica had possessed the terrifying ‘Power of Godslaying’—a force that demanded constant vigilance.
Gettis, while stronger overall, posed far less threat to Seo Do-jun.
Yet Seo Do-jun prolonged the fight for one reason:
‘Is Choi Kang-soo paying attention?’
He wanted Choi Kang-soo to observe how a true Holy Knight wielded divine energy—even a corrupted one.
The problem?
“Where do you think you’re aiming?! Don’t you dare touch my Uncle! You fallen piece of trash!”
Rather than learning, Choi Kang-soo focused solely on assisting Seo Do-jun, missing every deliberate opening left for him.
‘…Too much to ask, I guess.’
This confirmed Choi Kang-soo’s ordinariness.
A prodigy would’ve absorbed at least 20% of Gettis’ techniques, a genius 50%, and a true master—100%.
As a former genius himself, Seo Do-jun could only sigh at Choi Kang-soo’s narrow focus on gear alone.
But surprisingly, his intentions bore fruit elsewhere—
CRACKLE—
Shinjo.
The swordsmanship prodigy who’d become Japan’s champion by 17 had always studied Seo Do-jun’s battles intently.
Now, watching Gettis fight, something inside him erupted.
‘If divine energy is like lightning spirit energy…’
Gettis’ movements eerily mirrored Shinjo’s own when channeling the Thunder God’s power.
Though Rahf’s efforts had helped Grichuk become a Transcendent by absorbing dark knight essences twice, and Choi Kang-soo could potentially ascend by obtaining Gettis’ relics, Shinjo envied neither.
He’d already absorbed the Thunder God’s power—a force that could make him a Transcendent once fully mastered.
The potential now stirred violently within him.
“Shinjo?”
Though Seo Do-jun didn’t understand the sudden change, he recognized this critical moment—Shinjo was on the verge of a breakthrough.
‘Maybe this worked out after all.’
He’d been wondering how to help Shinjo activate the Thunder God’s power. Now, the boy was finding his own path.
Choi Kang-soo would grow stronger just by absorbing holy relics’ energy (though he’d dismiss it as ‘gear carry’). That was enough.
But Shinjo’s unexpected evolution was a welcome bonus.
‘After this battle, we might gain two new Transcendents.’
Smiling at the thought, Seo Do-jun didn’t notice Gettis’ expression darkening further.
‘How dare he mock me!’
His pride wounded, Gettis intensified his assault.
Each sword swing released divine energy like shooting stars, while holy magic manifested as radiant hammers and storms.
This simultaneous blend of swordsmanship and holy magic embodied the pinnacle Choi Kang-soo dreamed of reaching.
Perhaps that’s why—
At some point, even Choi Kang-soo began half-trance studying Gettis’ movements.
Now that the sacred sword had ‘awakened’ him, Seo Do-jun adjusted to prolong the fight for both disciples’ sake.
He even refrained from counterattacks when Choi Kang-soo forgot to use his shield.
Naturally, Gettis soon discarded his own shield to focus purely on offense.
“Divine Freeze!”
White light encircled Seo Do-jun, forming shackles of holy energy.
With a twist and slash—
CRASH!
—the bonds shattered.
Gettis snarled and unleashed his next attack:
“Flame Breath!”
A storm of sacred fire surged forward, potent enough to vaporize undead instantly.
Seo Do-jun’s sword traced a defensive circle—
Vandeyan Family Swordsmanship
Fourth Form: Cergel Selado Duhart!
-Sealing Power of the Unyielding Circle-
The holy storm crashed against the sword-drawn barrier, its vibrations revealing the attack’s terrifying power.
Even using Gettis as a training dummy, Seo Do-jun couldn’t afford carelessness.
Meanwhile, Gettis erupted with another spell:
“Divine Force Tembel!”
BOOOOM—
The earth quaked as eight colossal pillars of light erupted, trapping Seo Do-jun within a temple-like structure.
‘Dangerous!’
Each beam radiated overwhelming holy energy—and all eight were now targeting him.
Worse, a crushing pressure pinned him in place.
Then—
KABOOOOOM—
The beams struck simultaneously, the explosion so massive it seemed to shake the heavens.
“UNCLE!”
“Guild Master!”
Choi Kang-soo paled, realizing he’d failed to protect Seo Do-jun.
Shinjo felt equally guilty for losing himself in enlightenment during the life-or-death battle.
“Huuu…”
Gettis exhaled deeply, a satisfied smile forming.
Divine Force Tembel was his ultimate technique—one even Barhaut admitted would be difficult to counter.
Though the sacred flames around him dimmed from overexertion, it didn’t matter.
The remaining foes could be handled easily, or avoided until he recovered.
‘I overestimated you, Vampica’s killer.’
The upstart who’d relied on defense had fallen to arrogance.
‘Did the fallen angel’s relic vanish with him?’
Annoyed he couldn’t claim it, Gettis clicked his tongue—
Then froze.
“Something funny?”
STAB—
“…Ghk!”
A blade pierced his abdomen.
Seo Do-jun stood there, completely unharmed.
“H-How…?”
“Does the Six Seats not communicate?” Seo Do-jun asked calmly. “Did no one tell you how I killed Vampica? Or about the relic I obtained?”
Gettis’ pupils shook—revealing everything Seo Do-jun needed to know about their fractured alliance.
“Also—”
STAB! STAB! STAB!
Three more wounds—thighs and chest—before Seo Do-jun continued:
“A Holy Knight, even a fallen one, can heal this much easily. Right?”
“Y-You… GAAAAAH!”
Though Gettis’ healing activated, its potency had drastically weakened.
‘Fighting Palaresta was more useful than I thought.’
Having battled Mute’s former Divine Sword wielder, Seo Do-jun knew exactly how to handle Holy Knights.
He didn’t wait for recovery either—
SLASH! CRACK! STAB!
His sword became a blur, painting Gettis crimson.
Even the knight’s rapid regeneration (rivaling Grichuk’s) couldn’t keep up.
“Sacred knights’ healing is impressive. Better than trolls, don’t you think?”
Seo Do-jun taunted between strikes, each cut deeper than the last.
“GYAAAAAAAAH!”
Between the psychological warfare and relentless assault, Gettis neared his breaking point.
The spectators watched this macabre dance—wounds forming and healing in real-time—with mixed expressions.
Choi Kang-soo alternated between relief and irritation:
“Tch… fooled again.”
After being tricked once with Vampica, he’d fallen for it a second time.
Shinjo, regaining composure, studied every movement:
‘Now I can barely follow Guild Master’s sword path… Just how profound is he?’
Eventually—
“…Cough!”
Kneeling, Gettis vomited blood, his sacred flames extinguished.
His healing had slowed… then stopped entirely.
“…Leave now,” he rasped. “Forget today’s events, and I won’t tell anyone. Even you can’t survive provoking us further.”
“That speech doesn’t suit your current state,” Seo Do-jun replied. “Besides, I finish what I start.”
“W-Why go this far?!”
“You attacked first.”
“When?!”
“Ask Barhaut when you meet him in hell. The moment you became his dog—”
SWISH—
Gettis’ head tumbled.
“—you were destined to fall by my sword.”
