SFRW-Chapter 226
by SbmjamCh. 226 Sword God From The Ruined World
The pit where the Chimeras had emerged was plunged in absolute darkness.
For anyone else this would be problematic – but not for Seo Do-jun.
Lack of light didn’t hinder his vision, and the darkness sharpened his other senses instead.
Swish—
At the faint sound, Seo Do-jun sidestepped and swung his sword.
Slice!
Squelch!
A severed tentacle sprayed acidic fluid across the earthen walls.
The pit formed an L shape.
After descending nearly 50 meters, a massive tunnel opened before him.
Hundreds of tentacles crisscrossed the passage, forcing Seo Do-jun to continuously cut through them.
His efforts underground eased the defensive battle above ground for his companions.
CRACKLE!
SCREECH!
ROAR!
As the tentacles suffered damage from the intruder below, the hive mind sent Chimeras in response.
The tunnel filled with charging Chimeras, but as Kusak said – unless they were Barhaut-level threats, they posed no danger to Seo Do-jun.
Azure magic trails sliced through the darkness, dismembering every Chimera in their path.
“Hmm.”
With corpses piling up and limiting movement underground, Seo Do-jun incinerated them with magic.
Suddenly—
GROOOOOWL!
An earth-shaking roar erupted.
“Getting serious now?”
The hive mind had escalated its response to crisis levels.
SCREEEECH!
A colossal Chimera appeared, nearly 15 meters tall to match the tunnel’s height.
Its grotesque form featured:
– Eight mismatched legs
– Tentacle-like arms sprouting everywhere
– Eight heads with sixteen hateful eyes
“Now this is a real monster.”
Disgusted by the stares, Seo Do-jun swung his sword.
CRACKLE!
Blue magic imbued with eternal flames cleaved through the beast.
ROOOAR!
To his surprise, the Chimera regenerated instantly, lashing out with a dozen tentacle-arms.
Seo Do-jun’s gaze shifted behind it – hundreds of tentacles connected to its back.
“That explains the insane regeneration.”
He nodded understandingly as the Chimera attacked relentlessly.
The solution was simple: overwhelm it with even more insane firepower.
Vandeyan Family Swordsmanship
Fifth Form: Torrential Flurio Stfluer!
-The flooding of a whirlpooling river-
With each swing, sword energy waves stacked upon each other.
SCREEEAM!
Recognizing the threat, the hive mind made the Chimera charge recklessly.
Seo Do-jun smirked.
Fleeing would’ve been smarter than this suicidal rush.
CRACKLE-CRACKLE-CRACK!
Six stacked waves annihilated the Chimera:
– Arms and legs vaporized
– Sixteen eyes obliterated
– Massive body shredded to pieces
GROOOAN!
The hive mind struggled to regenerate its champion, but—
The connecting tentacles kept severing under the assault.
Surviving tentacles fled into the darkness.
“Before you cause more trouble…”
Seo Do-jun sprinted after them – they conveniently led him straight to the hive mind.
***
“…What’s happening?”
Pope Alfrey’s face twisted in horror.
When his hidden weapons – the world-ending Chimeras – first emerged, he’d been confident.
The infinite swarm had pushed Seo Do-jun’s group to their limits.
But then—
The Chimera numbers stopped increasing.
Five minutes passed without new tentacles surfacing.
“That man couldn’t have…?”
Alfrey shook his head violently.
Not even Seraph or Desion’s Sword could defeat the hive mind alone.
“Impossible!”
Yet why was the hive mind silent during this perfect opportunity?
As anxiety contorted his face—
“Your Holiness! We must evacuate! Unknown monsters outside—”
SPLAT!
Black magic from Alfrey’s palm exploded the priest’s head.
“Idiot.”
Then Alfrey sensed it—
The hive mind’s energy was rapidly weakening.
“Who… who is he?!”
***
“Huh. Looks like Basilisk Queen.”
Seo Do-jun observed the massive jar-shaped hive mind at the tunnel’s end before striking.
CRACK!
The rough surface cracked, shedding hard shell fragments.
“Similar appearance, but far weaker.”
Basilisk Queen was impervious to external attacks – even Seo Do-jun couldn’t scratch it.
But this hive mind bled from light blows.
“That’s why you hid so deep underground.”
The tentacles lashed out angrily as Seo Do-jun spoke.
“This is different too. The Basilisk Queen couldn’t attack directly.”
SLICE-SLICE-SLICE!
Each sword stroke carved deeper into the hive mind’s surface.
It desperately spawned more Chimeras, but nothing could stop Seo Do-jun.
Soon:
– Hundreds of tentacles reduced to dozens
– The massive body covered in gruesome wounds
– Blue viscous fluid leaking everywhere
For the finale, Seo Do-jun unleashed a finishing strike.
WHOOSH!
Eternal flames consumed the hive mind completely.
“Hmm?”
Amid the ashes, a glowing object caught his eye—
A 30cm indestructible vial containing:
– A thumb-sized white orb
– Radiating immense holy power unlike anything Seo Do-jun had felt
“Why would a Chimera hive mind possess this?”
The contradiction puzzled him.
“The Divine Sword might know.”
Regardless, this was priceless:
– If absorbed by Choi Kang-soo or the Divine Sword, their power would skyrocket
“Sorry Seraph, but I can’t hand this over.”
Storing the vial in subspace, Seo Do-jun exited the tunnel.
***
As the hive mind died, Alfrey scrambled up in panic.
‘Rahf! He can save me!’
He rushed outside seeking his only hope.
With the hive mind destroyed, Seo Do-jun’s group finally eliminated the last Chimeras.
“No more appearing. Kassal succeeded,” Kusak noted.
Exhausted, they collapsed—except Seraph.
“I’ll capture Alfrey.” She marched toward the papal chambers with Jerome.
“Wait! I’ll help!” Choi Kang-soo jumped up to follow.
“That lovestruck fool!” Kusak mocked. “Crying over Eliana, now chasing Seraph?”
Just then—
“There he is!” Veronica pointed as Seo Do-jun emerged from the pit.
“Uncle!” Choi Kang-soo interrupted urgently.
“The Pope fled!”
Stunned silence fell.
The world’s Administrator… ran away?
“We pursue immediately,” Rakun declared.
Everyone stood up, fists clenched.
“That bastard won’t get away clean!” Kusak growled.
