Ch. 178 Sword God From The Ruined World

When Seo Do-jun, who had been in Ethiopia, suddenly headed to Mali, various organizations and nations closely monitoring his movements scrambled to understand the reason.

Why?

Why would he abruptly leave Ethiopia for Mali?

Given Seo Do-jun’s personality, he should have first eradicated Ethiopia’s monster waves and annihilated the thorn-in-the-side rebel forces.

Yet he ignored them?

While most were baffled, only Na Tae-hwang, the Association Chairman, and U.S. intelligence agencies grasped Seo Do-jun’s unpredictable actions to some extent.

Even the Casserian Guild was puzzled by his sudden, irregular behavior.

“What is this, a magic show? Popping up here and there? Why the rush?”

“Given the Guild Master’s temperament, he wouldn’t leave Ethiopia unfinished…”

“Did anyone hear anything else?”

To the guild members’ questions, Hyun Joo-yeon—who had been handling communications in Africa—shook her head.

“I’m not sure either.”

Her frustration mirrored theirs. Despite being the primary point of contact in Africa, she couldn’t reach Seo Do-jun now.

“Don’t worry. The Guild Master doesn’t do things without reason. He must have one for going to Mali.”

Jung In-joo tried to reassure Hyun Joo-yeon, though she herself was uneasy about Seo Do-jun’s abrupt departure.

Still, as acting Guild Master, she focused on steadying the others.

“Worrying about the Guild Master is pointless! Focus on your tasks—unless you want to embarrass yourselves later. Right?”

The guild members nodded, trusting Seo Do-jun implicitly.

“Exactly! When has the Guild Master ever let us down? If anything, we’re the ones holding him back!”

“True! Instead of worrying, we should work harder to stand by his side!”

Meanwhile, Seo Do-jun was obliterating the rebel base where Kusak’s last sighting was recorded.

“Y-you monster!”

A bloodied middle-aged man, likely the base’s overseer, hurled curses. Resigned to death, he spat his last words defiantly.

When his tirade paused, Seo Do-jun coldly asked:

“Feel better? Then answer one thing. Do you know this man?”

He showed a photo of Kusak—or someone identical enough to be him.

“Tch! Why would I?!”

But Seo Do-jun caught the flicker in his eyes.

“I didn’t want to do this.”

Grabbing the man’s arm, Seo Do-jun channeled magic—burning muscles, shattering bones, severing tendons.

“AAARGH—!”

The man convulsed, frothing at the mouth from agony beyond comprehension.

“Next is your left arm. Then your legs. Don’t worry—there’s more.”

Seo Do-jun’s calm tone terrified the man more than any demon.

Within minutes, he spilled everything:

Kusak had appeared suddenly, demanding the rebels keep fighting the government at all costs. In exchange, he supplied drugs and weapons from Mexico.

The rebels, already locked in endless war, accepted. But when monster waves hit, Kusak forbade any truce—slaughtering a third of their leaders as a warning.

“Pitting rebels against the government while monsters ravage the country…”

It was a perfect recipe for national collapse—a tactic Seo Do-jun recognized from his ruined world.

Yet one question gnawed at him:

Why would Kusak, who always acted impulsively, orchestrate such a complex scheme?

“He must have help.”

Someone well-versed in Earth’s geopolitics, pulling strings behind Kusak.

Seo Do-jun called Na Tae-hwang.

After 20 seconds of ringing, a voicemail answered.

“Training?”

He tried again later, then dialed Hyun Joo-yeon to enlist Cain and Capmore’s aid. Though both had ‘stepped down’ as Guild Masters of Magician and Sunrise Guilds, their influence remained absolute.

Meanwhile, Na Tae-hwang mobilized South Korean Heroes under utmost secrecy. The U.S. Hero Association, hearing it was Seo Do-jun’s request, complied without question—dispatching seven S-rank Heroes.

“Africa, right?” Gaël Ruakani asked.

Maximo Obregon shrugged. “Where else? Monster cores are there.”

But when Magician Guild members arrived, whispers spread:

“Are we teaming up?”

“With Cain gone to South Korea, they’re not what they used to be.”

“Basically a Casserian subsidiary now.”

Then CIA Deputy Director Stamplyn James arrived with South Korean Heroes.

“Our destination is Mexico.”

“Mexico?!”

The S-ranks gaped.

As they boarded the plane, another surprise awaited: Sunrise Guild members.

“The hell? Why’re they here?”

Gaël laughed. “What, are we taking down a country?”

Jokes filled the cabin—unaware they were heading to dismantle one.
