SFRW-Chapter 132
by SbmjamCh. 132 Sword God From The Ruined World
“What’s that?”
“Isn’t that a person floating in the sky?”
“Must be a Hero.”
“Is he a member of the Casserian Guild?”
Vaitel, who had suddenly appeared in the skies above Seoul, caught the attention of quite a few people. However, no one found the sight particularly strange. After all, this was none other than Seo Do-jun’s residence, and right next to it stood the Casserian Guild building, where the world’s greatest Heroes resided.
Instead, people watched with curiosity, wondering if Seo Do-jun and the Casserian Guild were about to pull off another astonishing feat. And as if fulfilling their expectations, dark flames began to manifest around Vaitel, one after another, drawing cheers from the crowd.
“Did a magic Hero just join the Casserian Guild?”
“Wow—even from this distance, that magic looks insanely powerful!”
“So this is the kind of skill you need to become a member of the world’s top Hero guild!”
“Wait, is that Cain?”
“Ah! Cain Lester? That makes sense! I heard he’s close friends with Hero Seo Do-jun! Wow, even the former world’s greatest Hero is joining the Casserian Guild?”
“If Cain really joins, does that mean the Magician Guild will merge with the Casserian Guild? Hell yeah!”
“This is what true global power looks like!”
Though they couldn’t see clearly from afar, people began to believe that the Hero floating in the sky was Cain Lester.
Then, the dark flame masses plummeted toward Seo Do-jun’s house.
“…Huh?”
“What the—why is he targeting Seo Do-jun’s house…?”
“What’s he doing?”
The moment everyone grew puzzled—
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
A series of massive explosions erupted above Seo Do-jun’s house.
“Aaaah!”
“Kyaaah!”
“It’s an ambush!”
It was unmistakably an attack on Seo Do-jun’s home. Some people still stood frozen, wearing expressions of disbelief, unable to comprehend why Cain would attack Seo Do-jun.
The deafening explosions made it seem like Seo Do-jun’s house would be reduced to rubble any second—
“…Huh?”
“Look! A transparent barrier is blocking all the attacks!”
A translucent shield, shaped like a dome, protected Seo Do-jun’s house.
“…A mythic-grade barrier?”
Vaitel immediately recognized what had blocked his attack. A mythic-grade barrier magic circle, capable of perfectly shielding a limited space from external magical assaults, had been activated.
“…Who the hell—?”
Vaitel’s face twisted in frustration.
Deploying a mythic-grade barrier as a magic circle was impossible without knowledge of magic on par with an Archmage—even in a ruined world.
“This damn barrier!”
Vaitel prepared an even stronger spell. The colossal mass of black flames that formed this time was reminiscent of a dark sun.
KWAOOOOOOO—!
As Vaitel’s magic clashed with the mythic-grade barrier, a tremendous shockwave swept through the surrounding area. Buildings trembled, scattering dust, while paved roads cracked and flipped over. Streetlights and trees were utterly destroyed. The mere shockwave alone caused catastrophic damage.
CRACKLE!
Yet, Seo Do-jun’s house remained unharmed.
The mythic-grade barrier held firm, protecting the house, and the sight of it made Vaitel grind his teeth in frustration.
‘I’m running low on magic!’
No—the real problem was the magic stone sustaining the barrier.
The mythic-grade barrier protecting Seo Do-jun’s house was powered by a top-tier magic stone from Heavy Mountain.
Seo Do-jun had anticipated Vaitel’s arrival. Though he had already set up magic circles to prevent new rift zones from forming, he knew another barrier was necessary specifically for Vaitel.
That was why he had prepared the mythic-grade barrier.
Even in a ruined world, Vaitel preferred to resolve everything from a distance with magic. Knowing this, Seo Do-jun considered the mythic-grade barrier the most reliable defense.
Fortunately, he had learned the barrier’s magic circle from Ryuntna. Unlike other spells, mythic-grade barriers were commonly used in large-scale battles against monsters in the ruined world.
The only issue was sustaining it—ordinary magic stones couldn’t handle the magic consumption. But that problem was solved by the mythic-grade magic stone obtained from hunting Heavy Mountain.
Since this barrier was meant to protect the house where Eun-young and his grandmother lived, Seo Do-jun spared no expense.
“Who is it?! Who—?!”
Furious at his inability to break the barrier with his current power, Vaitel let out a furious roar.
The agitated magic around him surged wildly, unleashing a chaotic storm of elemental magic—lightning, fire, water—all hammering against the barrier.
CRACKLE! BOOM! WHOOSH!
Yet, no matter how much magic he unleashed, breaching the mythic-grade barrier was impossible.
While Vaitel was lost in his frenzy, something came flying at him from somewhere.
“…!”
SHWAK!
Even in his agitated state, Vaitel instinctively twisted his body, narrowly avoiding a broken metal sign that grazed past him.
His hood was torn, and a thin cut opened on his skin, blood trickling down.
His first injury on Earth!
Vaitel’s gaze snapped toward the direction of the attack.
“Hey! You bastard! What the hell do you think you’re doing?! Who the hell do you think you are?!”
It was Kang Cheon-wuk.
He had been stationed in Incheon, anticipating a potential monster wave from the western rift zone. While briefly stopping by the guild office, he had spotted Vaitel’s magical assault and rushed over at full speed.
Without needing to ask questions, Kang Cheon-wuk hurled the nearest object—a broken metal sign—since throwing his axe was too risky.
“Motherf—! Get down here! I’ll smash your skull in! Aren’t you coming?!”
This bastard had attacked Seo Do-jun’s house.
The mere thought of someone assaulting the home of the man he revered made Kang Cheon-wuk’s blood boil.
At Kang Cheon-wuk’s actions, Vaitel’s expression turned icy.
“A bug like you dares…?”
The fact that this insignificant creature had wounded him was unforgivable. Vaitel wanted to tear him apart limb by limb.
As Vaitel raised his hand, Kang Cheon-wuk’s body began to levitate against his will.
“W-What the—?!”
Startled, Kang Cheon-wuk flailed before quickly channeling his magic.
With a faint pop, he broke free from Vaitel’s control.
“That bastard…!”
Kang Cheon-wuk’s excitement cooled instantly.
He had known from the moment Vaitel bombarded Seo Do-jun’s house with magic that this guy wasn’t normal.
But Kang Cheon-wuk wasn’t alone.
“Uncle!”
Shin Min-gi appeared next, followed by—
SHWAAAAA—!
A barrage of sword energy surged toward Vaitel, forcing him to raise a shield.
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
Though the shield blocked the attacks, they were still threatening.
The attacker was none other than Shinjo.
Without waiting for explanations, Shinjo swung his sword relentlessly at Vaitel.
As one of the Casserian Guild’s Three Great Captains, Shinjo’s attacks were anything but ordinary. His skill surpassed that of typical S-rank Heroes, and each strike carried immense weight.
CRASH! BOOM!
With every swing, Shinjo’s sword unleashed terrifying energy that battered Vaitel’s shield.
Though it seemed like the shield was holding—
“Pathetic attacks…!”
Vaitel muttered through gritted teeth as cracks formed in his shield.
“I’ll slaughter every last one of you insects!”
With Vaitel’s roar, pillars of fire erupted beneath Shinjo, Kang Cheon-wuk, and Shin Min-gi.
“Ah! Hot!”
“Tch!”
Kang Cheon-wuk and Shin Min-gi barely dodged, but Shinjo evaded effortlessly and counterattacked.
SLASH!
Shinjo’s relentless assault focused on a single point, finally shattering Vaitel’s shield.
And at that moment—
WHOOSH!
A violent gust of wind surged from below, twisting Vaitel’s expression.
Casserian, who had been waiting for an opening, joined the fray.
Feathers sharp as blades shot toward Vaitel, forcing him to hastily raise a watery barrier.
SHWIIING!
Though most feathers were blocked, some pierced through, grazing or embedding themselves in Vaitel’s body.
“Tch!”
Vaitel’s face trembled with humiliation at these unexpected wounds.
The real problem was that fighting Casserian inside the mythic-grade barrier was no easy task.
And Shinjo’s strength was far beyond what Vaitel had anticipated.
‘I’ve expended too much magic.’
Worse, the magic he had wasted attacking Seo Do-jun’s house had left him exhausted.
To make matters worse, Casserian Guild members were now swarming in.
Gritting his teeth, Vaitel decided he had no choice but to retreat.
“Next time, I’ll slaughter every last one of you!”
“Motherf—! Talk is cheap! If you’re so confident, finish it now!”
Kang Cheon-wuk’s taunt made Vaitel glare at him with murderous intent.
“You… I’ll tear you limb from limb!”
The venom in Vaitel’s voice sent a chill down Kang Cheon-wuk’s spine, but he refused to show fear, cursing loudly in his Busan dialect.
“…You’ll see.”
With those final words, Vaitel vanished without a trace.
“Damn it… Where the hell did that monster come from?”
Kang Cheon-wuk couldn’t help but feel genuine fear toward Vaitel, who had escaped unscathed despite Shinjo and Casserian’s attacks.
***
That day, news spread worldwide that Seo Do-jun’s house had been attacked by an unknown assailant.
Upon hearing the report, Seo Do-jun immediately headed back to South Korea.
Meanwhile, Choi Kang-soo, still in Italy—
“Uncle, you should’ve taken me with you!”
—could only weep bitterly as he stared in South Korea’s direction.
Two days remained.
Choi Kang-soo had no choice but to spend the remaining time in the Vatican’s chapel before he could return to Korea.
***
Upon arriving in Seoul, Seo Do-jun first checked on his family’s safety.
Though he had already heard from Hyun Joo-yeon and Jung In-joo that they were unharmed, he couldn’t rest easy until he saw them with his own eyes.
“Brother!”
As soon as he stepped inside, Eun-young rushed into his arms.
“Seo Do-jun.”
His grandmother, seeing his face, finally relaxed, her smile spreading warmly.
“No one’s hurt?”
“Of course. We’re fine.”
“Eun-young too?”
“Yeah! But…”
Eun-young was both amazed and curious about the Death Knights. His grandmother felt the same.
After fainting when the Death Knights first appeared, his grandmother had woken up to find them guarding her and Eun-young tightly—which had frightened her at first.
“Actually…”
Seo Do-jun explained as gently as possible to avoid alarming them.
Fortunately, both his grandmother and Eun-young nodded in understanding.
“So they’re knights protecting the princess?”
Eun-young’s innocent analogy made Seo Do-jun smile softly as he patted her head.
“That’s right. They’re strong knights protecting Princess Eun-young and Grandma. So there’s nothing to be scared of.”
Seo Do-jun glanced at his grandmother, who nodded reassuringly, understanding that he had taken these measures out of concern for them.
After spending a long time comforting them, Seo Do-jun finally stepped outside.
CLICK.
The moment the front door closed, his expression turned icy.
A chilling aura radiated from him, as if he would destroy anything that crossed his path.
“-Seo Do-jun…?”
Hyun Joo-yeon stammered, taken aback by his demeanor.
“Where’s Kang Young-pyo?”
Without hesitation, Hyun Joo-yeon guided him to where Kang Young-pyo was being held.
***
Kang Young-pyo was strapped to a chair, his arms and legs tightly bound, with electricity coursing through it.
His face and body were a mess, and the severed left arm was proof enough of the torture he had endured.
“Keuk… Seo Do-jun… you bastard…!”
Seo Do-jun responded by driving his fist into Kang Young-pyo’s face.
“From now on, you only answer my questions. No talking back.”
“Screw y—URK!”
“Let’s see how long you last.”
Seo Do-jun’s cruel, demonic smile made Kang Young-pyo’s pupils shake as if struck by an earthquake.
